THE PROCESS

HOW IT WORKS

Decluttered Digital offers solutions for digitizing, printing, and sharing your print photos & media. I work with local vendors whenever possible to provide the highest quality service & products while keeping business within our local community. Read more about our process below:

01 Schedule a Call

Get in touch using my contact form on this site. From there, we can set up a 15-minute call to chat about your project. I can also tell you more about how I work and what you can expect if we choose to work together.

02 Discovery Session

Sometimes projects need more flushing out and that is where a Discovery Session comes in. Think of it as a “look under the hood” for print photo projects. This session is crucial as it helps you & I gain clarity on next steps and costs related to your projects/goals. Discovery Sessions can be in-person or remote and my hourly rate applies to these appointments.

03 Material Collection

Once the scope of your project has been established, we will agree on the best way to hand off your photos for processing. I offer local pick-up & delivery and will travel for a fee. I also accept shipped materials with a required signature & insurance. Photos should be organized, grouped, and labeled prior to the project starting.

04 Scanning & Digitization

The first step in preserving your photos is to scan or digitize them. We use a flatbed and camera scanning setup to capture high-resolution images that can be enlarged if needed. During this step, we will also rename files, adjust dates, and organize the files in folders so they are easily searchable.

05 Digital Restoration & Retouching

All images will include standard color balancing & white balancing, file renaming, date adjustment when applicable, and minor retouching for dust and other small debris. Digital restoration work applies to all photos that require digital repair, such as tears, fingerprints, discoloration, fading, silvering, etc. We focus on non-destructive digital restoration techniques that maintain the integrity of the image without creating obvious artifacts or overly smoothed areas.

06 Professional Printing

We work with local printers as well as nationwide professional print houses to offer you the best product with the convenience of online ordering. Choose from a range of paper options including museum-quality fine art paper. Framed prints and wall displays are also available.

07 Archival Storage

Once everything has been digitized and printed, your photo collection is safely moved to archival quality materials for storage or viewing. You have the option to choose between space-saving storage boxes or binders to flip through your collection.

08 Review & Sign

Once we chat, you will receive a Client Agreement that goes over some general housekeeping items. You will also receive a proposal for work to be completed. Both of these items can be completed electronically on your phone or computer.

09 Payment & Fees

Once the scope of your project has been established, I will create a proposal that outlines the work to be completed and associated fees. A non-refundable retainer is required in advance before any work can begin with payment in full due for all media transfer projects. All changes to project scope will require a new agreement.

10 Questions & Updates

Questions always come up and I am happy to answer yours or ask you when there is something I am not sure about! I also love to give project updates so you can feel good knowing that everything is on track.

11 Project Delivery

Once your project has been completed, you will receive your original photos along with high-res digital files on a complementary USB flash drive. You will also receive a link to a private gallery to view, download, share, and print more copies of your photos.
